As Head of Technology, you will play a key role within the Digital and Innovation leadership team, reporting to the Chief Digital and Innovation Officer, responsible for the technology estate across the Council and reimagining where technology can be used to help Westminster residents, businesses and staff.
You will have the opportunity to create and run the technology capability for the council, whilst scaling a technology function of circa 50 people across infrastructure, operations, application management/development, application support, end-user computing and service desk.
You will inspire the organisation to exploit modern technology. You will oversee the implementation of modern technology practices/ways of working, centred around the needs of our users. You will enable experimentation, continual iteration and collaboration. You will break down team silo's and bring people together to deliver outcomes. You understand the capability of technology, can explain technical concepts simply and have a relentless focus on delivery.
Your profile
- Experience of working in a leadership role within a large, enterprise scale environment with deep knowledge of modern technology practices around infrastructure, operations, hosting, and platforms
- Strong experience of defining technology strategies across complex organisations
- Strong practical knowledge around agile ways of working
- Knowledge and experience of embedding modern practices such as DevOps, CI/CD, Product etc.
- Strong stakeholder experience, with an ability to build excellent relationships across all levels of the organisations, and externally, and communicate with non-technical audiences
- Strong people management skills, with an ability to motivate and drive teams, and promoting equality and diversity in all aspects of the teams' work
- Experience of managing large budgets - this role has a revenue budget of circa £7m per annum, not including ad-hoc capital projects
